About

Here is the short version of who I am and how I arrived at starting a blog…

I grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere. The kind of place where you know everyone and everyone knows you. I wanted something more so I left after high school. Went to college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, graduated in 2002 and got a job in SLO with a non-profit children’s organization. Worked there for a year before moving to San Diego to be with my college sweetheart who was working on her master’s at SDSU.

Three or so years later, I found myself single again after a total of 5 1/2 years with the ex. I was a bit of a mess and spent the next year focusing on my career and trying to find myself again. In May of 2007, my dad was diagnosed with ALS (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease). This prompted me to think a lot about the life I was living, how I needed to get back out into the world and not waste a single moment because it could all be taken away from us at any moment.

Now, I’ve made some great friends of my own in SD. We hang out often and have fun, but I’m unable to talk to them about certain things. Those are the thoughts, ideas, dreams that are stuck in my head. I needed an outlet. I tried writing in a journal, but it didn’t help. My sister introduced me to Twitter.com and the mini-blogging seemed to help. I think it was the fact that I could get feedback from my tweeting friends. An official blog was the natural next step. It just took me awhile and a few glasses of wine to actual start.

So here I am. I’m sure I’ll write in detail about everything mentioned above as well as share funny stories from my day-to-day life (I work at a gym and encounter all kinds of “interesting” people there). If you read my blog, I hope you enjoy it and please, send me comments. It will help me maintain my sanity!
